What is a deal?
A deal is any product/service/item a member finds on the internet and wishes to store in Dealtribe.com. A member may wish to store the deal in Dealtribe.com in order to share it with other members or simply save it to their own list as a reminder for their own shopping puposes.
What is the bookmarklet?
The bookmarklet is a tool that allows you to save the relevant information (e.g. URL link, price, merchant, etc.) for any deal you see anywhere on the internet to Dealtribe.com. Think of it as a capture tool that allows members to populate Dealtribe.com with items they see as good bargains.
How to add the bookmarklet tool to your computer?
When you first register to Dealtribe.com you are presented with a screen where you install the bookmarklet to your computer. You are presented with this same screen anytime you select the link entitled Get the “Add to Dealtribe.com” button, which appears frequently throughout Dealtribe.com. No matter how you arrive at this screen it works the same as follows:
If you are a Windows Explorer user simply right click on the “Add to Dealtribe.com” button, select “Add to Favorites” from the menu that appears, answer “Yes” if you are presented with a message warning you that the favorite may not be safe and you’re done. Just go to your Favorites menu and click the “Add to Dealtribe.com” link anytime you come across a deal you wish to add to the site.
If you are a Mozilla Firefox user simply click on the “Add to Dealtribe.com” button and hold, then drag and drop the button onto your Bookmarks toolbar. You’ll see the Dealtribe.com bookmarlket appear in your Bookmarks toolbar. Presto! You’re done. Simply click on the Dealtribe.com bookmarklet anytime you wish to save a deal to Dealtribe.com
What is a list?
A list in Dealtribe.com is exactly what it says… a list. Create as many different lists as you want (e.g. Christmas Ideas for the Family, Baby’s First Birthday, Dad’s Retirement Gift Ideas, My Next New Car, etc…) and anytime you are surfing the world wide web and see an item that you wish to store in one of your custom lists simply use the bookmarklet tool to do just that. In this way you can use the lists as a means to do comparative shopping on similar items from different merchants so you can do your homework and ensure you get the best price on items you want.
How to create a list?
When you register to Dealtribe.com a list is automatically created using the username you have selected. Use this list as a catchall list for anything under the sun that catches your eye.
If you want to get more organized create more specific lists by going to My Dealtribe.com and either the Username List sub tab or the My Lists sub tab. On the left side of the screen you will see a “Create New List” link. Click on it to bring up a field where you enter the name of the new list. Check private (no one else can see your list contents) or public (other members can view your list contents) and then click OK. The new list name will appear and the next time you use the bookmarklet tool you will see the new list name is displayed in the tool so you can add deals to this list.
How to add a deal to your list?
The best way is to use the bookmarklet tool. When you are on a website and see an item that peaks your interest activate the bookmarklet tool and begin to fill in the fields with as much data as you wish. The fields are pretty much self explanatory so we’ll just cover the “Add to List” drop down field as it has the most functionality. When you click on this field you can either select from any of your personal lists or even create a new personal list here if you so choose. Be sure to enter the title, price, denomination, description, relevant tags and then click Save. That’s all.
How to access your deals through any computer?
This one is easy. You can access your Dealtribe.com account from any computer by simply going to Dealtribe.com and signing in with your user email and password. Out of town shopping for the weekend and see something in a store that may have a better price than similar items you have saved to your personalized lists in Dealtribe.com? Simply find a computer, sign in and check your lists to be sure that the deal you think you’ve found is the best deal you can get.
How to view other member added deals?
All the deals added by members to Dealtribe.com are viewable to every member through the Explore tab. Here you can view deals in a variety of ways such as deals with the top ratings, most recently saved deals, or simply browse all deals. This means that you do not necessarily have to search the entire internet to find great deals that interest you. Someone else may have found exactly what you are looking for and already saved it to Dealtribe.com for you. No simply take this deal and save a copy of it in one of your personalized lists.
What is the deal rating?
The deal rating displayed to the left of each deal is a means to let members know what others have thought of deals contained within Dealtribe.com. If a deal has received many more Yes votes than No votes then chances are it is a worthwhile deal. If the No’s have it then you may want to avoid this particular item.
Get feedback from the Dealtribe.com community / How to utilize the community to make an informed purchase decision?
Feedback from likeminded consumers is available in a variety of forms within Dealtribe.com. The rating system is a way to get a quick straw pole of opinion on an item. However, if you are looking for more detailed feedback check out the Comments tab beneath each deal. Hopefully, here you will be able to find some members that have had personal history with a particular item and, thus, you can learn from another’s first hand experience.
What is a TAG?
A tag is a label used to describe an item. Several tags can be used to describe an item. For instance, if you are using the bookmarklet tool to save a Canon digital camera to Dealtribe.com then some of the tags you can enter into the bookmarklet tool may include: canon, digital camera, photography.
By adding tags to deals you increase the functionality of Search feature. In the Search field located at the top right hand corner of any Dealtribe.com page type in a tag and hit GO to find deals with matching tags.
Harness the power of the Dealtribe.com community to find good deals/What is a Request A Deal?
Have you ever searched for a product on the internet and not been satisfied with your results yet you know there are better deals to be found but you just can’t seem to find them or simply run out of time to search? If so then say hello to Request A Deal.
This feature allows users to submit a request to all Dealtribe.com members to help the greater community find you a better deal. You simply fill in some information on what you are looking for, when you need it and decide what reward you are willing to pay the person who finds the deal you like best. Then you just sit back and wait for the community to send in search results, filter through the results and select a winner.
Finally, all you have left to do is purchase the product and claim that great deal as your own confident in the knowledge that a thorough product search was done.
Get group discounts on the products you need / What is a Power Deal?
Ever wonder why retailers get great deals from manufacturers and exactly how much of a mark-up you are paying when you buy that same product from that retailer? What if you had the ability to unite with a group of people interested in buying the same product and approached the merchant as a group seeking a bulk rate discount? Well, that is the premise behind Power Deals. It is a means whereby likeminded consumers can unite and leverage their sheer numbers to secure product discounts from merchants.
Similarly, it is the belief of Dealtribe.com that when established as a viable merchant to consumer link that merchants will contact Dealtribe.com themselves to offer Power Deal proposals to our members. Then all you will have to do is peruse the merchant supplied Power Deals and sign up for one you like. The more that sign up the larger the discount achieved by all!
